Mark J. Locher serves as Senior Vice President - Origination, and is responsible for originating middle market, asset-based loan opportunities for NewStar Business Credit. Mr. Locher joined the company from CORE Business Credit, which was acquired by NewStar in November 2010. He has over seventeen years' experience originating middle market asset based and cash flow-based debt and equity financing in a variety of industries which have been sourced primarily through intermediaries and private equity sponsors.

Prior to joining CORE, Mr. Locher worked for ORIX Leveraged Finance where he served as a Director covering private equity sponsors on the West Coast. Prior to ORIX Mr. Locher was an originator with the asset based lending arm of BMO Capital Markets. He also has previously held senior positions with other institutions, including Heller Corporate Finance Group, GE Capital Merchant Banking Group, and National Bank of Canada.

Mr. Locher received his B.S. in Industrial Engineering and Engineering Management from Stanford University and his M.B.A. from the UCLA Anderson School of Management. He is a member of the Association for Corporate Growth, Turnaround Management Association and the Commercial Finance Association.
